EU Circular Economy Package

The Circular Economy Package is a set of legislative proposals adopted by the EU Commission in 2015 in order to create a feasible path toward the different targets identified through the EU Action Plan for the Circular Economy.

The Proposal for a DIRECTIVE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL amending Directive 2008/98/EC on waste is the legislative proposal by the EU Commission aiming at reaching the targets regarding waste reduction and waste management. The Commission identifies in this document a series of actions and measures through which enterprises, research centers and citizens, and then Member States, can accomplish the goal of recycling 65% of municipal waste by 2030.

The Proposal for a DIRECTIVE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL amending Directive 1999/31/EC on the landfill of waste is the legislative proposal adopted by the EU Commission, in which it asserts the political measures that are necessary to get the targets of reducing the landfill to maximum of 10% of municipal waste by 2030, banning landfilling of separately collected waste and identifying the economic instrument to discourage landfilling.

The Proposal for a DIRECTIVE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL amending Directive 94/62/EC on packaging and packaging waste is the document expressing the norms thanks to which European Union will be able to recycle 75% of packaging waste by 2030.

The Proposal for a DIRECTIVE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL amending Directives 2000/53/EC on end-of-life vehicles, 2006/66/EC on batteries and accumulators and waste batteries and accumulators, and 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment contains the proposals of the EU Commission dealing with recycle, disposal and reuse of RAEE wastes.
